1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to provide Translato.'s translation services. Here is what we collect and why:
- Translation text you enter — processed by our AI provider to generate translations, but not stored on our servers without your account.
- Voice recordings — processed in real-time for speech-to-text translation and immediately discarded. We do not retain audio files.
- Camera images — processed in real-time for OCR and visual translation. Images are not stored after processing.
- Usage data — number of translations per day, used solely to enforce the free tier daily limit (20 translations/day).
- Device identifier — an anonymous identifier used for guest usage tracking and limit enforcement. Not linked to personal identity.
- Email address — only collected if you choose to create an account. Never shared with third parties for marketing.
- Purchase history — managed via RevenueCat and the Apple App Store for subscription management and entitlement verification.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect strictly to operate and improve Translato.:
- To provide translation services via Claude AI (Anthropic) for Pro users and Google Translate for Free users.
- To enforce the free tier daily translation limit (20 translations/day).

4. Data Storage and Security
We take the security of your data seriously. Here is how data is stored and protected:
- Translation history (for signed-in users) is stored in Supabase with encryption at rest. Guest users' data is stored locally on-device only and never leaves the device.
- Account data (email, preferences) is stored in Supabase's infrastructure, which uses industry-standard AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS in transit.
- We do not sell your data to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers — ever.
- Voice recordings and camera images are processed ephemerally and are never written to persistent storage on our servers.
- Free users' usage counters are stored as an anonymous device-linked record and contain no personally identifiable information.
